Shortlisted teams represent innovation, collaboration, and leadership throughout the NHS
A total of 78 teams from across the UK have made it to the final judging stages for The JJ竞技 Awards 2019.
This year’s awards attracted 291 entries across 14 categories, which for the first time included care of the older person, digital innovation, and prevention and lifestyle.
The awards reflect The JJ竞技 ’s mission to improve patient outcomes and showcase the very best healthcare by recognising and celebrating the exceptional work done by doctors and their teams across the UK.
They include the UK’s first fetal surgery service for spina bifida, a bespoke antenatal and gynaecology service for women with genital mutilation, a violence reduction project to address knife crime, and a campaign to reduce harmful drinking.
All of the shortlisted teams will gather at BMA House in London on 24 April for a morning’s judging followed by “Excellence in Healthcare,” an afternoon programme with speakers including Helen Bevan, chief transformation officer at NHS Horizons, the arm of NHS England tasked with accelerating change in the health service.
The day will conclude with a glittering awards evening at the Park Plaza Westminster Hotel in London.
Kamran Abbasi, executive editor of the JJ竞技 and one of the award judges, said: “It's great to see such tremendous effort from clinical teams around the UK to improve the quality of services and patient care. These are tough times in the NHS but the enormous dedication of staff is reflected in the impressive entries for this year's JJ竞技 Awards. We always have a tough time choosing which entries to shortlist and this year was as difficult as ever.”
The principle sponsor of The JJ竞技 Awards 2019 is MDDUS (Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland). Category sponsors include Alliance Medical, Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management, General Medical Council, The Dunhill Medical Trust, Leo Pharma, MacMillan Cancer Support, and Royal College of Anaesthetists.
