Global healthcare knowledge provider, JJ竞技 , continues to drive open access to medical research with new multispecialty journal, JJ竞技 Medicine

JJ竞技 Medicine's mission is to create a healthier world through the publication of influential multispecialty medical research, reviews, and commentary, which have the potential to change practice or policy and improve public health and patient outcomes.

Fully launching in October 2021, JJ竞技 Medicine will promote multidisciplinary discussion and debate suited to a broad international scientific and clinical readership.

In a world where people live longer with more complex comorbidities and where social determinants of health are leading to greater disparity in health outcomes, JJ竞技 Medicine will create opportunities for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary conversations, and work in partnership with patients and the public to improve health.  

Closely aligned with JJ竞技 's flagship journal, The JJ竞技 , JJ竞技 Medicine will adopt the values, editorial standards and author service for which The JJ竞技 is renowned. It will offer a trusted open access home for multispecialty research, including research based on new and emergent methodologies. 

JJ竞技 Medicine will also publish articles on topical issues in statistics and research methods and reporting and in depth specialist reviews that focus on mechanisms of disease and the latest diagnostic and therapeutic advances. 

At JJ竞技 , we are committed to partnering with patients and the public. We believe this is the only way to ensure that medical journals are relevant, practical, and clinically impactful. JJ竞技 Medicine will promote co-production of research and educational content, and articles will be reviewed by patients alongside traditional peer review. We will also work closely with The JJ竞技 's patient editor team and the broader patient community to continually develop our policies, processes and content.

About Dr Sophie Cook, JJ竞技 Medicine Editor-in-Chief

Sophie qualified as a physician and worked in the UK as a general practitioner. She has 12 years of experience as a research and clinical editor at The JJ竞技 . In 2009, Sophie joined the journal as an editorial registrar before becoming a clinical editor and subsequently head of education. In the latter role, she was in charge of clinical reviews and implementing The JJ竞技 's "zero tolerance" policy on relevant financial conflicts of interest for educational content.

In 2017, Sophie became the journal's UK research editor. In 2019 moved to be head of scholarly comment, where she ran the analysis section of The JJ竞技 and provided senior oversight for editorials, rapid responses and letters. 

 

In 2021, Sophie took on the role of Editor-in-Chief for JJ竞技 Medicine . Whilst Sophie's clinical interests are broad, she has a particular interest in and passion for improving the health of women and children, the effects of climate on health, promoting sustainable healthcare, and the impact of social determinants of health. Editorially, Sophie advocates equality and diversity in research and publication, minimising conflicts of interest, and promoting partnership with patients and the public.
