In January 2021, it was a race against time to vaccinate the world. Countries started to vaccinate their populations and many were ready to roll out their plans.
There have been numerous mass vaccination campaigns in the past within the Asia Pacific region. Each faced different challenges. From vaccine hesitancy with the measles-rubella vaccine in Indonesia to the Dengvaxia controversy in the Philippines, there are important lessons that can be applied to the covid-19 pandemic.
Brought to you by JJ竞技 , Asian Development Bank and UNICEF , the first webinar in this series explored key challenges from past vaccine campaigns and facilitated a discussion to support countries with their covid-19 vaccine rollout.
The collection analyses the significant issues arising from the pandemic, including the political economy of the response, the role of international institutions, overwhelmed health systems, social determinants, the value of global indices of preparedness, and global megatrends and solidarity.
In this session, you can hear from Dr Viroj Tangcharoensathien, Dr Jesse Bump, Professor Göran Tomson, Dr Lauren Paremoer and Prof Fran Baum about their work and participate in a discussion facilitated by Dr Kamran Abbasi, Executive Editor of The JJ竞技 .
This collection was produced with the kind support of PMAC.
